The holiday season is a time of year that many homeowners revisit and refine their plans for renovation and redecoration in the coming year. So we thought this might be an ideal time to look at what paint colours are tipped to be popular in 2024.
Now, as many readers will be aware, we tend to see a lot of colour predictions being made at this time of year. However, one of the most anticipated forecasts is the Pantone Colour of the Year, as Pantone is regarded as the world’s leading authority on colour reproduction for industries as diverse as printing and fashion.
Pantone has been announcing their annual colour forecasts since 1999, and is regarded as compulsory reading for many designers as it is intended to “reflect the prevailing mood of our communities around the globe through colour”.
In December, Pantone announced that their Colour of the Year for 2024 is called “Peach Fuzz”, which as you can see in the example from Pantone is a soft sherbet-like shade of orange and peach. It’s certainly a contrasting shade from last year’s selection of Viva Magenta which was more of a dramatic crimson red!
In announcing their decision, Pantone said “We see an increased focus on community and people across the world reframing how they want to live and evaluating what is important – that being the comfort of being close to those we love. The colour is one whose warm and welcoming embrace conveys a message of compassion.”
Of course, as we often remind our readers, if you are planning on redecorating as part of a plan to sell in the near future, the best enhancement of all is experienced professional advice. You could find that your property is more marketable in its current condition without spending the time and money on a paint job.
